Saga Dawa Düchen 2014

posted Jun 13, 2014, 6:22 AM by Palyul Changchub Dargyeling Washington DC Area   [ updated Jun 13, 2014, 6:29 AM ]

Tashi Delek,

The 13th of June is the anniversary of the Birth, the Enlightenment, and the Passing into Parinirvana by Shakyamuni Buddha.  The energy of the activities of the Buddha are so powerful and have helped so many beings, and by our own connection to him, any merit we accumulate on this day is considered to multiply 100,000 times or more. Through our virtuous activity especially on this day, we can radiate the joy of the profound peace of enlightenment throughout our world for everyone.

If you would like to accumulate merit and join in the practices on this special day, you can do any of the following:

 - Join practice at your local center

Because it is so important to gather the two accumulations during the most holy Saga Dawa, we will engage the Shower of Blessings practice, with tsog, followed by the Treasure of Blessings practice on Friday.  We will begin our practice at 7 p.m. at A Center for Relationships; 316 Commerce Street; Alexandria, VA 22314.

- Do not eat meat

- Feed and save the lives of animals

- Recite the Mantra of the Buddha (Om Muni Muni Maha Muni Soha)

- Recite the practice below.
